Stephanie Burd, MSW RSW

Stephanie is a Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the mental health sector. She works privately with people across Aotearoa New Zealand specialising in the mental health and well-being of those who are looking for help with low mood, anxiety, self-esteem, and confidence.

Clinical Social Work is a specialty practice area of social work more commonly known in North America which focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioural difficulties. During her studies, Stephanie completed 1150 supervised practicum hours during her BSW and MSW programs at community placements learning and applying clinical skills.

 

Throughout her career, Stephanie has worked in public healthcare and social welfare settings, supporting individuals with various needs including children with disabilities, homelessness, depression, anxiety, and trauma.

 

Professionally, Stephanie is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression. She incorporates elements of Strengths Based Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness in her practice. With a strong belief in a body inclusive Health At Every Size framework (HAES), Stephanie tailors her approach to each individual while providing empathy and humour.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), and a Masters of Clinical Social Work (MSW) from the University of Windsor. She is registered with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She is also a member of the Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa (PATHA), and the Australia New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
